Aguascalientes is the capital of the Mexican state of the same name and its most populous city,as well as the head of the Aguascalientes Municipality;with a population of 948,990 inhabitants in 2012 and 1,225,432 in the metro area. Captain Diego Romo de Vivar y Pérez was a Spanish adventurer,explorer,royal governor and military officer,born in Rielves,Spain. He conquered and pacified a large part of the northern region of Mexico in present day Chihuahua. He began his adventures in the Americas in the city of San Felipe,Guanajuato before becoming a fixture in Aguascalientes society among the colonial elites of Nueva Galicia.
