The minister of migration (Dutch : minister van migratie), or asylum minister (asielminister), is a minister in the cabinet of the Netherlands, responsible for policy relating to immigration law, migrant workers, asylum procedures, and asylum-seeker accommodation. From 2024, the officeholder has held the official title minister ofAsylum and Migration (minister van Asiel en Migratie), heading the ministry with the same name. [2] The current minister is David van Weel, who has been in office since 3 June 2025. In addition, Mona Keijzer has served as minister without portfolio since 19 June 2025, focusing on refugee reception and accomodation policy.

Contents

Prior to the Schoof cabinet, the position was usually held by a state secretary of the Ministry of Justice, rather than a minister – except between 2002 and 2006, and between 2010 and 2012. In later years, this state secretary was allowed to use the title 'minister for migration' in diplomatic contexts ('for' denoting that the officeholder does not head a ministry).
