Vanessa Guerra (born September 14,1989) [1] is a Democratic politician from Michigan who currently serves as the Clerk of Saginaw County. [2] She previously represented the 95th District in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2015 to 2021.
Guerra did not seek re-election to the House of Representatives in 2020 due to term limits,instead challenging incumbent Clerk Michael J. Hanley in the Democratic primary. [3] She defeated Hanley,receiving approximately 67% of the vote to Hanley's 33%. Guerra won the general election unopposed. [4]
Guerra attended Bridgeport-Spaulding Schools and the University of Michigan.
Currently a law student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law,Guerra is the minority vice chairwoman of the House Criminal Justice Committee. [5]
Elected at the age of 25,Guerra was the youngest member of the Michigan Legislature until the election of Jewell Jones. [6]
