Soldier [a] is an upcoming Bangladeshi action thriller film directed by Shakeeb Fahad and starring Shakib Khan in the lead role.
In early June 2025, rumours emerged that Shakib Khan would portray an Army Major in a film directed by television filmmaker Sakib Fahad, who is making his feature film directorial debut with the project. The film was reported to a patriotic action theme with an emotionally engaging storyline. [1] In late August, Channel i Online reported that although the film's title had previously been undisclosed, it was finalized as Soldier, filming expected to begin in September, with a planned release in December of the same year. [2] On 3 October 2025, Khan and Tanjin Tisha participated in a look test for the film. On the same day, they took part in a photo shoot for the film's first-look promotional materials. [3] [4] The film's director of photography was handled by veteran cinematographer Kamrul Hasan Khosru, known for his work on Monpura (2009), Debi (2018) and Hawa (2022). [5]
On 6 October 2025, Shakib Khan officially signed contract with Sun Music and Motion Pictures Limited to star in two films for the studio, one of which is Soldier. [6] [7] There were rumours emerged that a popular television actress might be cast opposite Shakib Khan. In late August 2025, NTV Online, citing multiple sources associated with the film, reported that Tanjin Tisha was set to be cast as the female lead, with the casting verbally finalised pending formal announcement. [8] After much speculation, Tisha made her big-screen debut with the film. As of 9 October, she had already begun shooting [9] [10] [11] and was scheduled to film scenes with Shakib Khan from 11 October 2025, as confirmed by director Shakeeb Fahad to The Daily Star. [12] In early September, reports emerged that Miss World Bangladesh 2018 crowned Jannatul Ferdous Oishee had joined the film. Multiple sources associated with the production confirmed the casting to Channel i Online. [13] The casting was later officially confirmed by director Shakeeb Fahad in October. [14] Initial reports suggested that Chanchal Chowdhury would be cast in a negative role. [15] However, in early October, Tauquir Ahmed was cast in one of the film's major negative roles, as confirmed by him to The Daily Star. This marks his first on-screen collaboration with Khan. [16] In November, content creator Rakib Absar joined the film; his involvement was confirmed after he shared still images of his looks from the film on social media. [17]
The filming of Soldier commenced on October 5, 2025, without any official announcement. [18] An official announcement had been scheduled for 6 October 2025, the second day of shooting, but it was postponed to 7 October 2025, according to Channel i Online. [19] The film's protagonist Shakib Khan did not participate in the first schedule of the filming. According to the production company, the initial schedule focused on character-based scenes, with Khan and other principal actors set to begin filming in subsequent schedules. [20]
On 13 October 2025, footage from a key scene of the film's shooting was leaked on social media. The leaked video, recorded by a bystander, showed filming taking place at Gulshan-1 DSCC Market in Dhaka. [21] [22]
On 21 November, filming was underway on a street in the Dilkusha commercial area of Motijheel during an earthquake. [23]
A 33-second first-look teaser of the film, [24] featuring Shakib Khan delivering a single line of dialogue, was released on 7 October 2025. [25] A first-look poster was revealed on 10 October, [26] which drew criticism for resembling Khan's own film Ora Dalal (2003). [27] A first-look poster featuring lead actress Tanjin Tisha was revealed on 17 November, [28] which received mixed response from audiences. [29]
The film was initially scheduled to release in December 2025, but was delayed for unknown reasons. [30] [31] [32] A new release date has not been announced. [33]
