The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) is a unionist political party in Northern Ireland. The party was founded as the Ulster Unionist Council in 1905,emerging from the Irish Unionist Alliance in Ulster. Under Edward Carson,it led unionist opposition to the Irish Home Rule movement. Following the partition of Ireland,it was the governing party of Northern Ireland between 1921 and 1972. It was supported by most unionist voters throughout the conflict known as the Troubles,during which time it was often referred to as the Official Unionist Party (OUP).

The mayor of Tower Hamlets is the directly elected mayor of Tower Hamlets London Borough Council in east London,England. The first election for this position occurred on 21 October 2010,taking on the executive function of the borough council. The position is different from the previous largely ceremonial,annually appointed mayors of Tower Hamlets,who became known as the 'Chair of Council' after the first election and are now known as the 'Speaker of Council'. The second election was held on 22 May 2014,the same day as the Tower Hamlets Council election,other United Kingdom local elections,and European Parliament elections,but the election result was declared void by the election court. NI21 was a short-lived political party in Northern Ireland. It was founded in 2013 by former Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) MLAs,Basil McCrea and John McCallister. The 2021 London mayoral election was held on 6 May 2021 to elect the mayor of London. It was held simultaneously with elections for the London Assembly,other local elections across England and Wales,and devolved elections in Scotland and Wales. The mayoral and Assembly elections were to be held on 7 May 2020,but in March 2020 the government announced the election would be postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2024 London mayoral election is due to be held on 2 May 2024 to elect the next mayor of London. It will take place simultaneously with elections to the London Assembly,some local council by-elections in London and regular local elections elsewhere in England and Wales. Following the Elections Act 2022,voting in this election will take place under the first-past-the-post system for the first time,replacing the supplementary vote system.
Malachai O'Hara is a Northern Irish politician,activist and community worker who has been the leader of the Green Party Northern Ireland since August 2022,having previously served as deputy leader from 2019 to 2022. O'Hara was a Belfast City Councillor for the Castle DEA from 2019,until 2023. In 2024 he was elected unopposed to Seanad Éireann,in a by-election to the Administrative Panel.
