Philip W. Chung is a Korean American writer/producer, co-founder of Los Angeles-based Lodestone Theatre Ensemble and was its co-artistic director.

Career

Chung has written and produced for theatre, film and television. He was the Co-founder/Artistic Director of the Asian American theatre company Lodestone Theatre Ensemble [1] and is the current creative director for director Justin Lin's company YOMYOMF. [2] [3] [4] His producing projects include the upcoming LGBTQ-themed horror film Moonshadow, [5] the Stage 13/HBO Max Asian food series Family Style, [6] Google's first 360 degree live-action film Help [7] directed by Justin Lin (also Writer), the U.S.-China co-production Hollywood Adventures starring Zhao Wei (Co-Producer and Co-Writer), [8] the Artbound/PBS documentary East West Players: A Home On Stage (Consulting Producer), [9] and the Karen Gillan-starring indie film Late Bloomers (Associate Producer). [10]

Chung has taught Asian American studies courses at UC Santa Cruz and playwriting at the L.A. Cultural Affairs Dept. and the Asian American Writers Workshop.

His play My Man Kono about the life of Charlie Chaplin's Japanese American valet Toraichi Kono premieres off-Broadway in NYC in 2025. His play Unbroken Blossoms, about the making of the 1919 D.W. Griffith-directed silent film Broken Blossoms told from the pov of the film's Chinese American consultants (James B. Leong and Moon Kwan), premieres at East West Players summer 2024. [11]

He is also writing features for Netflix and Buzzfeed Studios.

It was established in 1983 by Linda Mabalot as a vehicle to promote Asian Pacific American and Asian international cinema. The festival fulfills a unique mission in illuminating the visions and voices of Asian Pacific peoples and heritage. YOMYOMF, whose name is an acronym for "You Offend ME, You Offend My FAMILY," is a YouTube channel aggregating talent from various performers. Even though the YOMYOMF Network is an Asian American pop culture channel, the channel is intended to showcase quality programming, regardless of the race of the contributors. YouTube stars Ryan Higa (Nigahiga), Kevin Wu (KevJumba), and Chester See feature prominently on the channel. Justin Lin directs the channel.

<i>Internet Icon</i> 2012 TV series or program

Internet Icon is an online video-making talent competition that premiered on the YOMYOMF YouTube channel on June 12, 2012. The show was a competition between groups to see who can be "the next internet icon" or be able to run their own YouTube channel while sustaining an audience. Internet Icon was hosted by Chester See in season one and Chris Riedell in season two, and judged mainly by Ryan Higa and Christine Lakin in season one, with the addition of Timothy DeLaGhetto in the second season. Nick Riedell was also included as a mentor of the contestants in the second season. Additionally, there is also a guest judge who appears on the show each elimination episode. The contestants complete challenges at the Los Angeles Center Studios, where the show is also shot. The series is one of YOMYOMF's most popular. After two seasons, Internet Icon was cancelled, due to funding issues.

Squad 85 is an American comedy series created by Gregory Bonsignore that premiered on November 13, 2012, on Justin Lin's YOMYOMF Network. The series premise establishes that, "In 1985 the Los Angeles Police Department experimented with a secret Time-Travel division, catapulting four of L.A.'s finest 25 years into the future. That future... is NOW!" Wherein four cops from 1985 time travel to present day, meeting their Chief and Bobby a new recruit to form their own police squad. The series satirizes many 1980s Cop tropes as well as other movies and shows.

Tom T. Choi is a South Korean-American actor best known for Teen Wolf and his voice work on the Mortal Kombat video games and the first season of Squid Game. He has acted in numerous movies and television programs. Choi is also a producer, director, and writer. He wrote the screenplay and starred in the award-winning short film Lone Hunter.
