History

The building was built starting in 1899 on the site where the gardens of a Capuchin friars' convent once stood, which had been suppressed by the Austrian government. [1]

Description

The building, located in Corso Venezia, features an eclectic style inspired by Genoese Renaissance architecture. The entrance portal, slightly offset to the left of the façade, is distinguished by a monumental Doric pronaos supporting the main balcony of the noble floor. The rich decoration includes extensive use of herms and mascarons, with windows adorned with curvilinear and triangular pediments, sometimes broken to incorporate masks. Lesenes are also widely used in the decoration. On the inside, the grand staircase, built in a Neo-Baroque style using Red Verona marble, is noteworthy. [1]
