Monica Kim Garza was born in Alamogordo in January, New Mexico to a Korean mother and a Mexican father. [2] She grew up in Georgia and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in painting and drawing from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. [3] She specializes in depicting women of color of all shapes and sizes, carefree and ethnically and racially ambiguous, and is known for her nudes, contemporary portraits and sculptures. [4]
Yasumasa Morimura is a contemporary Japanese performance and appropriation artist whose work encompasses photography, film, and live performance. He is known for his reinterpretation of recognizable artworks and figures from art history, history, and mass media through his adoption of personas that transcend national, ethnic, gendered, and racial boundaries.
