History and Background

The foundation is associated with Liberian civil-society activist Martin K.N. Kollie. [4] Coverage of the organization in independent media has focused on its scholarship programmes and other interventions aimed at improving access to education for young Liberians. [5] [6]

Education support and scholarships

In late 2024, FrontPage Africa and other independent local media reported that the foundation awarded $1 million in scholarships to 17 Liberian students and youth enrolled in secondary schools and universities in Monrovia, citing that the initiative was intended to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged young people. [5] [7]

According to The New Newspaper Liberia, the scholarships were intended to support students attending a range of institutions, including the University of Liberia and several private secondary and tertiary schools, and were part of the foundation's efforts to boost educational opportunities. [8]

Reported activities and community support

In January 2026, Independent local and international media reported that the Martin K.N. Kollie Foundation said it had carried out more than 31 interventions nationwide in 2025. These interventions reportedly included scholarships and financial aid, technical and vocational education support, and other forms of community assistance aimed at youth empowerment and education. [9] [10] [11]

Some community assistance activities have also been reported in secondary sources. Africa-Press carried coverage noting that the foundation donated construction materials (100 bags of cement) to the Press Union of Liberia headquarters project. [12] [13]
