Tirio (a.k.a.Makayam [Makaeyam] and Aturu [Adulu, Atura]) is Papuan language of Western Province, Papua New Guinea. The Giribam 'dialect' may be a distinct language.

Makayam is spoken in Aduru ( 8°23′17″S143°00′40″E / 8.388034°S 143.011167°E / -8.388034; 143.011167 (Aduru) ), Lewada ( 8°20′07″S142°46′50″E / 8.335225°S 142.780449°E / -8.335225; 142.780449 (Lewada) ), Suame ( 8°21′08″S142°33′15″E / 8.352359°S 142.554118°E / -8.352359; 142.554118 (Suame) ), and Sumogi Island villages of Gogodala Rural LLG. The Giribam dialect is spoken in Janor village ( 8°25′55″S142°40′43″E / 8.431915°S 142.678616°E / -8.431915; 142.678616 (Janor Hamlet) ) of Oriomo-Bituri Rural LLG. [1] [2]
