Johnsonville, Tennessee

Last updated

Johnsonville, Tennessee was a town in Humphreys County, Tennessee. It was destroyed by the creation of the Kentucky Dam and the subsequent flooding of the Tennessee River in 1944. Prior to the flooding of the river and the creation of Kentucky Lake by the TVA, the sight of Johnsonville was a depot for the Union army and the site of a battle in the American Civil War. [1] Today, the site is managed under Tennessee State Parks as Johnsonville State Historic Park.

Many of its residents moved to the current site of New Johnsonville, which was incorporated in 1949. [2]
