In 2013, Kuhn ran for the South Carolina's 1st congressional district in a special election. The victor would fill the US House seat vacated by Tim Scott, who was appointed by Governor Nikki Haley to fill the vacated seat of Jim DeMint. Kuhn was defeated in the Republican primary. [2]

Community service

Kuhn served on the Foreign Affairs Forum of Charleston, the South Carolina State Ethics Commission, and the South Carolina Bar Association. [3]

Party leadership

Kuhn briefly served as Chair of the Charleston County Republican Party - he was elected in April 2019 and stepped down in January 2020. [4] [5]

Controversies

In March 2024, Kuhn was arrested in a hit and run traffic incident in Charleston, where, after hitting another car and attempting to flee the scene of the crime, Kuhn was recorded running over a pedestrian. [6] [7] He was released on bond. [8]

On May 30, 2024, Kuhn was arrested and booked into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center on an assault charge. [9]

On August 19, 2024, Kuhn's law license was placed on interim suspension. [10]
