The politics of Oklahoma exists in a framework of a presidential republic modeled after the United States. The governor of Oklahoma is both head of state and head of government,and of a pluriform two-party system. Executive power is exercised by the governor and the government. Legislative power is vested in the governor and the bicameral Oklahoma Legislature. Judicial power is vested in the judiciary of Oklahoma. The political system is laid out in the 1907 Oklahoma Constitution.
The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board is the parole board of the state of Oklahoma. The board was created by an amendment to the Oklahoma Constitution in 1944. The Board has the authority to empower the Governor of Oklahoma to grant pardons,paroles,and commutations to people convicted of offenses against the state of Oklahoma.

Same-sex sexual activity is legal in Oklahoma as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Lawrence v. Texas,although the state legislature has not repealed its sodomy laws. Both same-sex marriage and adoption by same-sex couples have been permitted since October 2014. State statutes do not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity;however,the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County established that employment discrimination against LGBTQ people is illegal. This practice may still continue,as Oklahoma is an at-will employment state and it is still legal to fire an employee without requiring the employer to disclose any reason.
George Theron Bynum IV is an American politician and lobbyist who has served as the 40th mayor of Tulsa,Oklahoma,since 2016. Bynum was first elected to the Tulsa City Council,representing the ninth district in 2008 as a Republican and served four terms before running for mayor in 2016.
Greg Treat is an American Republican politician from Oklahoma and the current President Pro Tempore of the Oklahoma Senate. He represented the 47th district from 2011 to 2024.

Brian Goree is a Justice on the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals. Born in 1964 in Killeen,Texas,and raised in Tulsa,he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in chemistry,then earned a J.D. degree at the University of Tulsa College of Law. After spending 23 years in private law practice,he was appointed to the court as Associate Justice. He won his retention election in 2014. Goree will appear on the ballot for judge retention in the 2024 general election.
John Kevin Stitt is an American businessman and politician serving as the 28th governor of Oklahoma since 2019. A member of the Republican Party,he was elected in 2018,defeating Democrat and former state Attorney General Drew Edmondson with 54.3% of the vote. Stitt was reelected to a second term in 2022,defeating Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister,a Republican turned Democrat,with 55.4% of the vote.
Dana Lynn Kuehn is an American attorney and judge from Tulsa,Oklahoma who has served on the Supreme Court of Oklahoma since 2021;she was appointed by Governor Kevin Stitt on July 26,2021. Kuehn had previously been an Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals Judge after her appointment by the Governor of Oklahoma Mary Fallin on October 2,2017. Kuehn is the first woman to serve on both of the state's high courts,the Oklahoma Supreme Court and the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.
Matthew John Kane IV is an American attorney serving as the chief justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Kane was appointed the state's highest court by Governor Kevin Stitt in 2019. He was elected to a two year term as chief justice,commencing January 1,2023. He had previously served as the vice chief justice from 2021 to 2022. He concurrently has served as a justice of the court since 2019.
