J. M. Emdadul Islam is a Major General of the Bangladesh Army and the Commandant of East Bengal Regimental Centre. Prior to this role he served as the General Officer Commanding of 55th Infantry Division in Jessore Cantonment. [1] [2]

Career

Islam was the college secretary of the National Defence College. [3] In 2013, he was the secretary of the principal staff officer, Lieutenant General Abu Belal Shafiul Haque. [4] He was the head of joint operations of the Plans and Operations Directorate at the Armed Forces Division in the Prime Minister's Office. [4]

Islam is the General Officer Commanding of the 55th Infantry Division and Jessore Cantonment. [5] He is the chairman of the Army Medical College Jashore. [5] He oversaw the Signals Corps Recruits Batch-2024 Closing Parade in November 2024. [6] He welcomed Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus for the Army Maneuver Exercise 2024-25 in the Rajbari Military Training Area. [7] In July 2025, he took the responsibility to rebuild homes of 14 families burned in arson attacks in Abhaynagar upazila. [8]
