Politics of Ghana takes place in a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic,whereby the president of Ghana is both head of state and head of government,and of a two party system. The seat of government is at Golden Jubilee House. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and Parliament. On December 5,2018,the Electoral commission chaired by Jean Adukwei Mensah reverted to the old logo showing the Coat of arms of Ghana and a ballot box showing the hand casting its votes,after the controversy over the new logo.
Mabel Maame Agyemang is the current Chief Justice of the Turks and Caicos Islands. An expert superior court judge with a judicial career spanning decades,Agyemang served in the judiciaries of the governments of Ghana,The Gambia and Eswatini prior to her current role in the Turks and Caicos Islands. She was the first female Chief Justice of The Gambia.
The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone is the highest court in Sierra Leone. It has final jurisdiction in all civil,criminal,and constitutional cases within Sierra Leone,and its decisions cannot be appealed. The Supreme Court has the exclusive constitutional power to overturn ruling of lower courts within the jurisdiction of Sierra Leone. The Supreme Court,along with the Court of Appeals,High Court of Justice,and magistrate courts form the Judicial branch of the Government of Sierra Leone.
Joseph Bawa Akamba is a Ghanaian judge,who served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana from 2012 to 2016. He was sworn into office by the President of Ghana,John Dramani Mahama in the presence of the Chief Justice of Ghana,Georgina Theodora Wood in November 2012. He retired from the Supreme Court in 2016. He had served a total of about 40 years in the Ghanaian Judicial Service. In 1994,he also served as Director of Public Prosecutions in The Gambia.
Jones Victor Mawulorm Dotse is a Ghanaian judge. He was a Supreme Court judge of Ghana and has also served on the Supreme Court of the Gambia. He was appointed a judge of both courts in 2008.
Stephen Alan Brobbey is a retired jurist. He was a justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana and once served as Chief Justice of the Gambia.
JusticeGertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo is the current Chief Justice of the republic of Ghana. She was nominated to the Supreme Court in November 2019 and received parliamentary approval in December 2019. She was sworn in on 17 December 2019. She was nominated to the office of Chief Justice in April 2023 to replace Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah who retired as Chief Justice on May 24,2023. She was sworn into office as the 15th Chief Justice of Ghana on 12 June 2023.
Avril Lovelace-Johnson is a Ghanaian judge. She was nominated for the position of a Supreme Court of Ghana judge in November 2019 and received parliamentary approval in December 2019. She was sworn in on 17 December 2019. She has been on the bench in Ghana since 1994 and was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2019.
Julius Ansah was a Ghanaian judge who served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana from 2004 to 2020.
Agnes Mercy Abla Dordzie is a Ghanaian judge. She was an active justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana until October 2022. She was appointed justice of the Supreme Court in 2018.
Gabriel Scott Pwamang is an active justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana. He was nominated in 2015 by president of Ghana John Mahama. Prior to his appointment to the bench,he was a private legal practitioner and the managing partner of Pwamang and Associates. He was a member of the People's National Convention once serving as the party's general secretary.
Richard Twum Aninakwah is a retired Ghanaian Supreme Court Judge. He served on the Supreme Court bench from 2004 to 2008.
