The New York City Fire Department, officially the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the full-service fire department of New York City, serving all five boroughs. The FDNY is responsible for providing Fire Suppression Services, Specialized Hazardous Materials Response Services, Emergency Medical Response Services and Specialized Technical Rescue Services in the entire city.

The Cherrydale Volunteer Fire House is home to the Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department in the Cherrydale neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia. Constructed in 1919, it has been a focal point for community attention ever since. The building served as Arlington County Fire Station #3 until a new station opened nearby in July 2011.

The Boston Fire Department provides fire services and first responder emergency medical services to the city of Boston, Massachusetts. It also responds to such incidents as motor vehicle accidents, hazardous material spills, utility mishaps, floods, explosions, and construction accidents among others.

The Detroit Fire Department (DFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the U.S. city of Detroit, Michigan.

Fire Station No. 19, now the site of a Buffalo Wild Wings, and the architectural firm Station 19 Architects in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States is centered in the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis campus. The former Fire Station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1893 in an era when Minneapolis was growing rapidly. Rapid development was bringing prosperity to Minneapolis, but it was also starting to tax the city's infrastructure. Residents and businesses on the east bank of the Mississippi River were demanding better fire protection, especially after the fire that consumed the University of Minnesota Old Main building in 1892 along with some grain elevators nearby. Fire Station No. 19 was built in a simple utilitarian style, yet it contained some touches of ornamentation. It was built with a bell tower that was later removed. The fire station was one of the last to house horse-drawn equipment, as late as 1922, it also had a hardwood floor apparatus bay. A newer Fire Station 19 was occupied in 1976 one block to the south.

The Engine House No. 11 is a fire station located at 2737 Gratiot Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. It is the oldest remaining firehouse in the city of Detroit; it was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1975 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Firefighting in the United States dates back to the earliest European colonies in the Americas. Early firefighters were simply community members who would respond to neighborhood fires with buckets. The first dedicated volunteer fire brigade was established in 1736 in Philadelphia. These volunteer companies were often paid by insurance companies in return for protecting their clients.

Engine Company No. 17 also known as Chemical Company No. 4 and the Brookland Firehouse, is a historic firehouse located at 1227 Monroe Street, NE, Washington, D.C. It was constructed in 1902 and housed an early “chemical company” which fought fires in outlying districts using large soda-acid extinguishers rather than using steam pumpers on the unreliable municipal water supply. The firehouse was innovative at the time of its construction, having a built-in electrical system, and it was designed to make use of the new call box system installed in the neighborhood. It was officially designated Engine Company 17 in 1905.

Old Engine Company No. 26, also known as the Langdon Firehouse and Chemical Company No. 3, located at 2715 22nd Street, NE, Washington, D.C. is a historic firehouse built in 1908 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Engine House No. 10 is a historic firehouse located at 1341 Maryland Ave., NE., Washington, D.C., in the Stanton Park neighborhood, just north of Capitol Hill.

Truck House No. 13, also known as the Trinidad Firehouse is a historic firehouse located at 1342 Florida Ave. NE, Washington, D.C. It was built in 1925 and added to the United States National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Engine Company No. 19 is a historic Engine house in Southeast Washington, D.C.'s Randle Highlands neighborhood. It was listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites in 2009 and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Engine Company 26 in the Northeast quadrant of Washington, D.C., USA, is a historic firehouse located at 1340 Rhode Island Avenue on the border between Brentwood and Brookland. The building was listed by the National Register of Historic Places in May, 2011. The same Engine Company was located at 2715 22nd St. until 1940, and that building is also listed by the NRHP, as Old Engine Company 26. Both buildings were listed as part of the "Firehouses in Washington DC" Multiple Property Submission.

Engine Company No. 25 is a historic firehouse located at 3203 Martin Luther King Jr., Ave SE, in Congress Heights, Washington, District of Columbia.

Engine Company 22, also known as the Brightwood Firehouse, was a fire station at #5760 Georgia Ave NW and it is also a historic structure located in the Brightwood Park neighborhood in Washington, D.C., United States. It was listed on both the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites and on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. The two-story brick building was designed by Leon E. Dessez and built in stages. It was initially completed in 1897 and then enlarged between 1907 and 1911. The current address of DCFD Engine Company 22 and Truck Company 11 is #6825 Georgia Ave NW.

The Bridgeport Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The Briarcliff Manor Fire Department (BMFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the village of Briarcliff Manor, New York and its hamlet Scarborough. The volunteer fire department also serves unincorporated areas of Ossining and Mount Pleasant. The fire department has three fire companies, two stations, and four fire engines; it also maintains other vehicles, including a heavy rescue vehicle. The Briarcliff Manor Fire Department Ambulance Corps provides emergency medical transport with two ambulances. The fire department is headquartered at the Briarcliff Manor Village Hall, with its other station in Scarborough, on Scarborough Road.

Engine Company 29, at 4811 MacArthur Blvd. NW in Washington, D.C., is a fire station built in 1925. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
