A member of the Democratic Party,he served in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Massachusetts's 10th congressional district from 1997 to 2011. The Cape Cod Central Railroad is a heritage railroad located on Cape Cod,Massachusetts. It operates on a rail line known as the Cape Main Line which is owned by Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The line was previously owned and operated by the Cape Cod Railroad,the Old Colony Railroad,and later the New Haven Railroad,each of which operated passenger trains on the line from 1854 to 1959. Although its namesake is the former Cape Cod Central Railroad (1861–1868),the two companies are unrelated.

In the House Chamber,Crocker serves on the following committees:the Joint Committee on Children,Families and Persons with Disabilities,the Joint Committee on Mental Health,Substance Use and Recovery and the Joint Committee on Tourism,Arts and Cultural Development. Before his entrance into elected office,Crocker was a broadcast journalist,a teacher within the Bristol County House of Correction,and a high school forensics coach. Crocker was inducted into the Massachusetts Speech and Debate League Hall of Fame in 2006. He lost re-election to Kip Diggs,a construction inspector and former professional welterweight boxer,on November 3,2020.
