Yeimi Carina Murcia Yela (born c. 1990) is a Colombian social communicator and politician who has served as Minister of Information and Communications Technology since 2025.
Born in Puerto Asís, Putumayo obtained a specialization in government and management at the Universidad Externado de Colombia.
Yeimi Carina Murcia Yela was born in Puerto Asís, in the Colombian department of Putumayo. [1] In an interview with El Tiempo , Murcia said that her family fled Puerto Asís due to the Colombian conflict when she was 4 years old, and that she grew up in Yacopí, in the department of Cundinamarca. [2]
Murcia studied communication science at the Cooperative University of Colombia, and completed a specialisation [a] in government, management, and public affairs at Externado University. She has a master's degree in human rights, democracy and globalisation from the Open University of Catalonia. [3]
In November 2022, Murcia joined MinICT as an advisor. [4] From 2023 to 2025 she held the role of "director de Apropiación" at the ministry. [4] She was temporary director of the ministry between the terms of Mauricio Lizcano and Julián Molina . [1] Molina left the post in September 2025, and Murcia was announced as his replacement on 17 September, and sworn in on 21 September. [3] [5]
