The Peoples Democratic Party [sic] is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria,along with its main rival,the All Progressives Congress.
Adamawa State is a state in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria,bordered by Borno to the northwest,Gombe to the west for 95 km,and Taraba to the southwest for about 366 km,while its eastern border forms part of the national border with Cameroon across the Atlantica Mountains for about 712 km. It takes its name from the historic emirate of Adamawa,with the emirate's old capital of Yola,serving as the capital city of Adamawa state. Since it was carved out of the old Gongola State in 1991 by the General Ibrahim Badamsi Babangida military regime,Adamawa State has had 10 men,both military and civilian,controlling the levers of power,who played crucial roles in transforming the state into what it is today.
Atiku Abubakar;born 25 November 1946) is a Nigerian politician and businessman who served as the vice president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 during the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo. He ran as governor of Adamawa State in 1990,1996,and in 1998,when he was finally elected before he became Obasanjo's running mate during the 1999 presidential election and was re-elected in 2003.
Chief Raymond Anthony Aleogho Dokpesi was a Nigerian media businessman. His parents were from Agenebode,Edo state in a family including six sisters. He entered the Nigerian mass media industry with his company DAAR Communications and set up the Nigerian TV network Africa Independent Television (AIT). He was the organising committee chairman of the People's Democratic Party national conference in 2015. As of March 2020,he was undergoing a trial on corruption charges. In May 2020,Dokpesi survived a serious COVID-19 infection. He suffered a stroke shortly after the 2023 Ramadan and died from a fall on his treadmill on 29 May 2023.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Adamawa State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Adamawa State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
