Chibi Maruko-chan is a manga series written and illustrated by Momoko Sakura. The series depicts the simple, everyday life of Momoko Sakura, a young girl everyone calls Maruko, and her family in suburban Japan in the year 1974. Maruko is a troublemaker, and every episode recounts Maruko's trouble and how she and her friends succeed in resolving the situation. The series is set in the former of Irie District (入江町), Shimizu, now part of Shizuoka City, birthplace of its author.
"Odoru Pompokolin" is a song by Japanese pop group B.B.Queens, serving as their debut single on April 4, 1990. It was used as the original ending theme of the anime series Chibi Maruko-chan as well as the opening theme for the 1995 incarnation of the same name. On July 9, 1990, "Odoru Pompokolin" reached the top of the Oricon Singles Charts, and again on July 23, on August 20, before serving as the number 1 weekly song throughout the month of September 1990. It ultimately remained on the charts for a total of 54 weeks, sold 1.9 million copies, and won both record of the year and pop rock song of the year at the 32nd Japan Record Awards as well as the 1991 JASRAC Award. The song was composed and arranged by Tetsuro Oda with lyrics by Momoko Sakura, author of Chibi Maruko-chan.
Mana Mikura and Kana Mikura are Japanese identical twin sister actresses. They are mostly collectively referred to as ManaKana (マナカナ). They were born in Osaka, Osaka. Mana is the older one, born 7 minutes before Kana.
"Roman Hikō" is a Japanese song by Kome Kome Club released on April 8, 1990. It was included in their 1987 album Komeguny. Originally conceptualized as a song for a hypothetical airline commercial, the hypothetical became reality in 1990 as Japan Airlines adopted the song for their television advertisement. It peaked at number one on the Oricon chart. In the Oricon yearly chart of 1990, it became the second best-selling song in Japan behind "Odoru Pompokolin." In 2007, Kome Kome Club released the remix version of the song in their album komedia.jp.
Memento Mori is the sixteenth album by Japanese rock band Buck-Tick, released on February 18, 2009. The limited edition came with a DVD of the making of the album. It reached number seven on the Oricon chart with 23,410 copies sold.
Shinsei Kamattechan (神聖かまってちゃん) is a Japanese rock band from Chiba, formed in 2007. The band consists of Noko, Mono, Misako (drums) and Yūnosuke. They describe themselves as an "Internet Pop Rock Band", which reflects the blend of pop melodies and piano with dark lyrics and punk rock sensibilities found within their music, as well as the band's long history of broadcasting both live performances and aspects of their daily lives on the Internet.

Hinatazaka46 is a Japanese idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. The group was established as a subgroup of Keyakizaka46 named Hiragana Keyakizaka46 on 30 November 2015, and was renamed and spun off into its own group on 11 February 2019. The group's name is adopted from the alternate reading of Hyūgazaka Street in Mita, Minato-ku, Tokyo, following the custom of naming groups after sloping streets in the Sakamichi Series. The captain of the group is Kumi Sasaki, with Mikuni Takahashi as vice-captain, and its fans are referred to as Ohisama (おひさま).
Daiko Nagato is a Japanese musical producer, musical arranger, writer and composer. He's mostly known as the founder of music company B Zone, which provided million-seller hits during the 1990s and provided more than 80 theme songs for anime television series Detective Conan. He was the recording producer for artists such as Boøwy, Loudness, TUBE, B'z, ZARD, WANDS, Maki Ohguro, DEEN, T-BOLAN, Mai Kuraki, Garnet Crow, Rina Aiuchi and Sard Underground. His brother, Shuusuke Nagato (長戸秀介) is also musical producer, guitarist, writer and founder of the music company Rey's in.

Yume Ippai is a song covered by Yumiko Seki as her debut single on April 21, 1990... The lyrics were written by Tomoko Aran and the melody was composed by Tetsuro Oda. It was used as the first opening theme of the anime series Chibi Maruko-chan from January 7, 1990 to September 27, 1992. "Yume Ippai" was the only song that Momoko Sakura did not write lyrics for in the anime series. The song was used once again on December 15, 1990 as the ending soundtrack for Chibi Maruko-chan: The Movie. At its peak, the song placed 50th on the Oricon Singles charts during the 1990s. After the death of Sakura Momoko in 2018, "Yume Ippai" rose to 132nd place on the chart that week.

After starting her songwriting career in the late 1970s, she had released nine albums and eight singles for Warner Pioneer and CBS/Sony from 1981 to 1990. She returned to public attention in the 2010s amidst the rise of city pop to popularity.
