Ahmed Umdagas Hamidu is a Nigerian medical academic, researcher and administrator. He is a professor of radiology and has served as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, following appointments by the Federal Government of Nigeria. [1] [2]
Umdagas obtained his medical degree in Nigeria, earning a Bachelor of Radiology. He completed postgraduate training in radiology and related specialties, leading to fellowship qualifications and an academic career in university teaching and clinical practice. [3]
Hamidu has spent much of his professional career at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, where he served as Director University health sciences ABU, Deputy provost COM ABU, Chairman MDCAN, HOD Radiology, Radiotherapy and oncology ABU. He was involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at Ahmadu Bello University. [4]
In 2019, he was appointed Chief Medical Director of ABUTH by the Federal Government of Nigeria. [5] He was later reappointed during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. [6]
As CMD, Hamidu oversaw clinical services, hospital administration, and implementation of federal health policies in a tertiary healthcare institution. [7] His tenure included partnerships aimed at improving cancer care and patient support services. [8]
