The 2026 season will be the San Francisco 49ers' 77th in the National Football League (NFL), their 81st overall, their 13th playing their home games at Levi's Stadium, and their tenth under the tandem of general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers will attempt to improve upon their 12–5 record from the previous season, make the playoffs for the second consecutive season, and host the NFC Championship Game.

On February 5, 2026, the NFL announced that the 49ers, as the road team, would face the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, as part of the NFL International Series. [12] [13]
The 49ers will also play one of their home games at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City sometime in December, becoming the first team to play multiple international games in non-consecutive weeks. [14]
